Illinois Agriculture Society
 The Illinois Agriculture Society was the precursor to the State and county fairs. 
Illinois Grange
The Grange or Patrons of Husbandry was organized in the early 1870's by a Minnesota farmer and entrepreneur by the name of      .  Following the great American Civil War, the country found itself in a state of disarray and financial depression.    Farmers were not immune, in fact, they were hit hardest.  With most of the able-bodied men being gone to war, many returned to find they weren't needed or that farm prices dropped drastically.
